Welcome to The Smoking Mule—a place where good food meets even better company! We’re not just a restaurant; we’re a second-generation, family-owned smokehouse that’s been serving up mouthwatering BBQ and hearty laughs since 2018.

Originally opened in Kimball, SD, The Smoking Mule quickly became a local favorite. When an incredible new location right on the Mighty Mo’ in Chamberlain, SD popped up, we couldn’t resist settling in. Now, we’re perfectly placed to serve both our loyal locals and the many visitors who roll in—especially those docking their boats for some good eats and cold drinks!

In January 2025, Erica officially took the reins, buying the restaurant from her mom Cheryl and stepdad Terry. But don’t worry, it’s still a family affair! Erica and her parents have been a tight-knit team for over 25 years, bringing a whole lot of love (and puns) into everything they do.

From day one, The Smoking Mule has been all about more than just food—it’s about creating a space where everyone feels at home. Whether you're here for the brisket or just in for a laugh, we’ve got a seat at the table waiting for you.
